This family tree web site was originally started to look at the Overton family in Tasmania, Australia and as time progressed, I traced back to their origins in Wretham, Norfolk, England. As research continues, the family tree has extended to include Glenda's side of the family as well. As of 2024, the number of people on the site is well over 13,000.
In 2010, I had my DNA tested with my (male) Y-DNA results showing that the Overton's on this web site are predominantly from clan or lineage number 2 of the currently 12 different Overton lines. This showed that our origins go back to William de Overton, born around 1270 in Helmsley, Yorkshire, England. It also indicates that we are related to a well-known Major-General Robert Overton and Judge John Overton. More information on them can be found in the "FEATURES" area to the right.
